John F Kennedy International airport (JFK) is the biggest airport and has the largest number of flights from the UK situated just 17 miles of Manhattan and around 30 minutes by taxi this airport provides the widest choice of flying options. Several flights operate daily out of London to New York with this airport receiving the largest number. Virgin Atlantic has some of the best direct flight deal to New York and they serve JFK on a regular basis from London. Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is a similar distance from Manhattan though this time west of the city over the Hudson River in New Jersey. Continental Airlines offer Direct flights to New York from Birmingham, Glasgow and Manchester flying into Newark making it a great option for those living outside London.

La Guardia airport (LGA) is just 9 miles east of Manhattan Island and is therefore the closest airport to New York City, however there are very few flying options from the UK unless you connect in another American city which does take away the advantage of the airports proximity to the city. La Guardia does however offer the benefit of providing loads of regional flights to other areas of America so can be useful if you are travelling onwards from New York.
